Our Company

IV Leather Goods was born out of a love for handmade pieces that are designed and built with care. We believe that a well made and beautifully designed product is more sustainable and functional than a cheaply made or hastily designed item.

Our company name comes from the founder’s namesake: named after his father, who was named after his father, who was named after his father. The fourth in a line of makers and doers, he understands heritage and the opportunity for a legacy.

We take pride in our trade and strive to create unique pieces that will last a lifetime. Our designs are characterized by clean lines, balance, symmetry and functionality.

Every item in our shop is crafted by hand from start to finish. At no point is a machine used to create or aid any part of the process. This includes: measuring, cutting, stitching, setting rivets or studs, skiving, edging, dying and burnishing. By using our hands, we are able to obtain a more durable and beautiful finished product as well as keep the trade alive.

We believe in makers, not machines.

Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather after 2.5 years vs new.

Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather after 2.5 years vs new.

We are proud to offer two main types of leather: natural vegetable tanned and the famous horween chromexcel leather.

We love vegetable tanned leather (or veg tan) because of it's robustness and the unique characteristics it takes on with time. Every piece develops a beautiful patina that is distinct to the way it is used. No two pieces evolve in the same way.

Horween's chromexcel leather is one of our top choices because of it's blend of soft and suppleness while still retaining durability and strength. Also, it doesn't hurt that it smells amazing! Chromexcel is a water resistant, oil injected leather that requires little to no maintaining over the years and will also develop it's own unique patina over time.

Please keep in mind that leather is a natural product so there may be variations in shade and color between pieces!
